Do you consider Usability as a functional requirement of EHR system?
EHR (Electronic Health Record) system is a system which is real time records of patient maintained electronically and accessible to the defined and authorised users. It is basically a electronic or digital record of patients. It gives the access of patients record & reports instantaneously.
Functional requirements is a description of software system, output and it features that a software should posses.
Usability is the comfort, ease and safety that software should provides to its user. This helps in giving good user experience while using a software. Usability can be brought in by defining what user friendly features and output should be there in the EHR system.
Since the EHR system help the authorized users to access the patient’s data on real time basis, usability should be the functional requirement for the same. This helps the user to use the EHR system easily, effectively and safely. An HER system which has the patient’s information but is difficult to navigate and access will not help in giving good usability experience and will not be effective as the data is difficult to be fetched.
Thus, Usability is an important functional requirement of EHR system.
