Identify what you consider to be the major advantages of for profit facilities and the major advantages of not for profit facilities. Do you think that hospice care will change based on the type of ownership (profit vs. not for profit) it is under? If so, how and why?
Here , the questions are about medical care. There are no. of medical care units established around us. Most of them are for- profit hospitals. Let us see the advantages of for -profit facilities and non profit facilities.
* For- profit hospitals may have an advantage when it comes to efficiency.
*Non profit is a coporation with out stockholders, while afor profit has stockholders.Non profit must still operate profitably their reenue must exceed expenses.
*Communities with non profit hospitals gain value when a for profit enters the market.
*The law imposes operating condition that make for profit and nonprofit almost indistinguishable. A for profit hospitals participating in some programe ,must agree to treat anyone who needs emergency treatment even if uninsured.
*For- profit, pay income and property tax. In many way tax exempt and taxable are the better terms to use to distinguishably non profit from for profit hospitals because both must earn a profit to survive.
* The profit earned by a tax exempt (non profit) hospitals is not subject to income tax and must be retained by the hospitals for its purposes.
*Profit earned by for profit hospitals is subject to federal anf state income tax, and after the tax is paid may be distributed to stockholders where it is taxed for the secondtime.
2) Hopice car is a special kind of care that focuss on the quality of life for people. And it is designed to give supportive care to people in the final phase of terminal illness and focuss on comfort and quality of life rather than cure. The goal is to enable the patients to be comfortable and free of pain, so that they live each day as fully as possible.
The activities of hospice care may be changed based on the type of ownership. Because few studies have analysed for proft and non profit differences in the home health care section. They found that patience in nonprofit agencies were more likely to discharged with in 30 days under medicare cost based payment compared to patience in for profit agencies.
Under cost based payment system non profit may behave more efficiently relative to for profit.
* Most healthcare markets shows the dual presence of for profit and non profit owned providers, Unlike their for profit counterparts, non porfit cannot distribute accounting profti to individual equity holders, but they do enjoy several govt conferred advantage like tax exemption, property tax etc
