When you are developing and implementing a network, one of the primary concerns is controlling and monitoring traffic through the network. How can you effectively utilize a firewall on the network? Also, software vs. hardware - what are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
REASONS TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT NETWORK
1.The main reason to develop the network is users can communicate and share their resources among the network.
2.Network helps to the user to share data files.
3.Users can share hardware devices like printers, scanners, CD-ROM devices, hard drives etc.
4.With out network the sharing is not possible.
5.With out network the hardware device is required for each user separatly, so the cost will be more.
6.By using network the users can easily access the application software also.
7.In the network the users can communicate through email, vedio conference etc.
8.Finally the main reason is to develop and implement network is to provide sharing activity between the network users.
PRIMARY CONCERN
The main concern is to controlling and monitoring the bandwidth of the network.
The bandwidth related concerns like congency, latency and packet loss.
UTILIZATION OF FIREWALL ON THE NETWORK
1.Run the firewall service as a unique user ID instead of root or administrator.
2.Limit the number of applications run on the firewall.
3. Enable those services that are needed.
SOFTWARE Vs HARDWARE
1. Software is a collection of institutions to do a task with the help of hardware. Physically we can't touch it.
2. Hardware is a physical components or devices which are able to execute the software and do a particular task and store the information. Physically we can touch and feel.
3. Software have three types they are, system software, application software, programming software.
4. Hardware have different types like processing devices, input and output devices, control devices, external devices.
5. Software failure could have many reasons may due to systematic error, version error etc.
6. Hardware failure is random, reasons like power issues, breakage issues.
7. Software examples - MS OFFICE, MEDIA PLAYER, CALCULATOR etc.
8. Hardware examples - CPU, HARD DRIVE, RAM, MOUSE, KEYBOARD, USB drives etc.
ADVANTAGES OF SOFTWARE
1. Control the system activities and storage management by operating system (this is a system software)
2. Reduce manual work
3. Fast computations are done using software like calculator.
DISADVANTAGES OF SOFTWARE
1. Not support for all environmental hardware.
2. Needs updates
