Controlling intake of which of the following is a primary goal in the treatment of chronic renal failure (CRF) before dialysis is indicated?
Trans fat
Protein
Fat soluble vitamins
Carbohydrates
Controlling intake of protein is the primary goal in the treatment of CRF before dialysis.
In CRF, there is a gradual loss of kidney function over the years. More protein intake would mean more waste in blood which would have to be removed from the blood. And hence reducing the intake of high amount protein food will help in the treatment and delay kidney failure.
In addition to that trans fatty acids can increase the risk factor in CRF patients. Trans-fat can raise blood cholesterol levels and clog blood vessels. People with CRF are at higher risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Hence reducing food that can cause heart disorders is highly recommended.
