Students, to further our dynamic discussions look into the following questions. Do you think that in general it is easier for the influence of a bad situation to overcome the good intentions of individuals or easier for people of good intentions to overcome the influence of a bad situation? Why? As you reply to the initial postings of your classmates supplement some examples where a public situation influenced behavior on a large scale? Peer groups are often blamed for leading a person into temptation. Can you think of an example where your peer group or a group you were in led someone away from temptation and back on the straight and narrow? Cite scholarly sources following APA format.
One of the most influential factor in a teen’s life is peer pressure. Although peer pressure is common in different places, it’s very much felt during the teenage period while one is in the high school or college. Most of the time, it’s always negative influence that wins the situation and not the positive influence. Many students have lost their self-confidence because of peer pressure and many have also changed their habits negatively by starting to smoke, taking drugs and drinking alcohol. Sometimes, they also lose their track from academics due to negative influence. One of my friends used to go with three of our acquaintances and all the three used to take drugs. My friend never took drugs and used to refuse whenever they forced him. At one point, they even threatened that they won’t talk to him and this prompted my friend to give in because he didn’t like to lose their friendship. We, the school friends found out that he was missing on most of the programmes in the school and started acting sick. We talked to him and reported it to his parents and with their help and our influence, he was able to change for good.
