Loss of independence is when a person is unable to continue with their daily tasks without the help of another person. This could include going to the toilet, having a bath, making or preparing food.
Common issue which reduce the independence over ageing.
1)Fragile Bones-
Many seniors fear falling. Advancing years can affect your balance and make you less steady and sure on your feet. Falls can be especially dangerous if you have osteoporosis, when your bones become less dense and more prone to breaks and fractures. Women ages 50 and older are twice more likely than their male peers to break a bone because of this “brittle bone disease.
2)loss of vision-
The most common causes of vision loss among the elderly are age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataract and diabetic retinopathy. Age-related macular degeneration is characterized by the loss of central vision. Primary open-angle glaucoma results in optic nerve damage and visual field loss.
3)Cognitive decline-
Whilesome memory loss is common as you age, developing Alzheimer’s disease is not. It’s important to recognize the early warning signs of Alzheimer’s, as early intervention and treatment can be key in slowing the progression of the disease.
4)Balance issues.-
Falls are the leading cause of injury among older adults, and maintaining your balance and mobility is key in fall prevention.

Eat lots of fruits, veggies, and foods high in calcium.Ask your doctor if you need a vitamin D supplement. Older bodies absorb less of it from the sun.Lift weights or do exercises that use your own body weight (walking, pushups, squats).Quit smoking and avoid too much alcohol (more than two or three drinks a day).
2)To overcome the loss of vision-
Have periodic eye exams (every 2-3 years for healthy patients under 50, yearly for patients over 50 or those with known health risk factors).Know your family's history for any eye problems.Follow a healthy lifestyle.Eat a nutritious diet for eyesight.
3)overcome loss of balance-
Treatment for loss of balance may involve taking medication, making lifestyle changes, or even undergoing surgery in some cases. Some people will need to manage a balance condition long-term, and they may need to work with a specialist called a vestibular rehabilitation therapist.
