For a standard normal distribution, find: P(z > c) = 0.9228 Find c rounded to two decimal places.
Solution:
Given: P(z > c) = 0.9228
We have to find c value.
If P(z > c) = 0.9228 then
P( z < c )= 1 - P(z > c)
P( z < c )= 1 - 0.9228
P( z < c )= 0.0772
Look in z table for Area = 0.0772 or its closest area and find corresponding z value.
Area 0.0778 is closest to 0.0772 and it corresponds to -1.4 and 0.02
thus z = -1.42
that is: c = -1.42
Thus required value of c = -1.42
