We are living in a world of controversy. Every day a new topic emerges that shapes our legal system and our democracy. Please begin the course with a post about what you think the most pressing legal issue facing the United States is today in 2020. You must state what the various and opposing viewpoints are and what we should do about this issue.
Today in 2020, the USA and rest of the world are fighting against COVID-19 and in the light of it, the most pressing legal issue is the Visa policy or more specifically, H1B Visa policy in the USA. The conservative or republican view is that it should be stalled for some time so that it should assist in creating more jobs for the local people. But, the opposite view or liberal view is that visa policy is already very stringent and it should not be stopped as long as people who come to the USA and or who are already in the USA are qualified, add value to the US economy and free from COVID-19 infections. These are the people that may be treated as immigrants, but create values in terms of innovations, health care services and research while creating demand in the economy. So, visa policy should remain as it is, because these visa holders are the engine of many US companies as well. The third view that is more toxic is that there should be no visa to anybody as these visa holders eat up jobs that could go to the US domestic people.
In the wake of these viewpoints, it is to be thought that the number of jobs being created if visa is not extended or not given for the time being. If it is hardly few thousands, then visa policy should be as it is, because it is already very stringent. It if takes more jobs, then the condition should be applied up companies to create same number of jobs for the US people as well so that there is a creation of new employment on a parallel basis and deserving candidates also get visa or extension of it.
