Attitude
Attitude refers to the set of knowledge, beliefs, feeling and behavior towards different things. It is the settled way of thinking and analyzing about something. It also depicts how people relate to different people around the world. Their are different components of attitudes. Attitude are enduring and they keep on changing over time and it depends on person to person.
3 components of attitudes are-
-Cognitive Component
-Affective Component
-Behavioral Component
1) Cognitive Component
Cognitive Component means beliefs, knowledge, thoughts and the
attributes which we can associate with a particular object. The
cognitive component is the belief segment of the attitude.
Cognitive elements is measured by the attitude scales of a
particular person.
Example-
Statement "I belive chinese workers are more industrious"
" Smoking is injurious to health"
"All puppies are so cute"
The statements reflects the belief segment of the attitude.
2) Affective Component
The affective component is the feeling segment of the attitude. In
affective component the statement affects another person in some
way. Emotions are expressed in the statement. Affective components
refers to a person's feeling about someone.
Example-
Statement "I like it"
"He hates smoking because it's injurious to health"
"He loves all the pupies because they are so cute"
The statements reflects the feeling segment of the attitude.
3) Behavioral Component
The behavioral component reflects intention of the person in a
short or long period. It reflects the tendencies of the person to
behave in particular manner towards a particular product. It is the
intention to behave in a particular way.
Example-
Statement "I will avoid lizards and shout if i saw them"
" We should keep that smoker away from the school"
"I want to kiss the puppy"
The statements reflects the behavior segment of the attitude.
