1-You have a job at a large company that processes food. You are testing the concept of radiating vegetables with electrons to kill bacteria present before shipping. To build the test apparatus you need to calculate a voltage difference that should be maintained between the two ends of the electron accelerator tube. You also want you to decide which region should be maintained at higher electric potential, the starting location or the target location of the accelerator tube. Based on other research, you hypothesize that the speed of electrons at the target location just before hitting the product must be 1×10^7 m/s. You measured that the accelerator will be 4 m long and you know that electrons accelerate from rest at the starting location.

2-Some physics lab equipment for manipulating charges is setup for testing. It has an x-y axis visible on it for easy measuring. A +1.00 ?? charge is placed on the y-axis 1.00 centimeters above the origin. A second +1.00 ?? is placed on the y-axis 1.00 centimeters below the origin. What is the electric field at the point (x=1.00 cm, y = 0 cm)? What is the electric field at the point (x= - 1.00 cm, y = 0 cm)?
