What is the purpose of a Quality Improvement Plan in healthcare?
As per CDC ( CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL) all the activities that
improve population
health, ensure healthcare’s affordability, and deliver the best
patient
experience are known as improvement in health care facility.
It has three dimensions-
Triple Aim; the framework all quality improvement in healthcare ties back to:
1. Improve the health of populations.
2. Reduce the per capita cost of healthcare.
3. Improve the patient experience.
Purpose of Quality improvement in Healthcare are-
1.Safe: avoid harm to patients from the care that is intended to help them.
2. Effective- provide services based on scientific knowledge to
all who could benefit and refrain from providing services to those
not likely to benefit (avoid underuse and misuse,
respectively).
3.Timely- reduce waits and sometimes harmful delays for those who receive and give care.
4. Patient-centered: provide care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, and values and ensure that patient values guide all clinical decisions.
5. Equitable: Provide care that does not vary in quality because of personal characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, geographic location, and socioeconomic status.
6. Efficient: Avoid waste, including waste of equipment, supplies, ideas, and energy.
