Which of the following is the most appropriate safety procedure that should be adopted for repair and maintenance on electricity systems?

A. Lockout and Tagout (LOTO) Procedures

B. Fire Emergency Response Procedure
C. Hot Work Procedure

D. Confined Spaces Safety Entry Procedure

Solutions

Expert Solution

A. Lockout and Tagout (LOTO) Procedure (ans)

Lockout and Tagout (LOTO) procedure is the most appropriate safety procedure that should be adopted.

In this procedure energy sources that are used to operate the machine which is to be maintained is kept off ,isolated and locked . Then a tag is placed over the the source that is locked indicating the name of the worker who is doing the work. The key to the locked placed over the power source is kept to the worker who is doing the maintenance work. In this way any possibility of accidentally supplying power to the machine or starting the machine is avoided. This is the best procedure so far among the procedure mentioned above.

FIRE EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROCEDURE is only used in case of fire emergency and need not not to bel followed all the time

HOT WORK PROCEDURE is dangerous and should be avoided as in this procedure the line is kept running i.e power is flowing through the line or the machine is operating while the worker is working on the mantenance . This process is only used when there is no other option left. Without proper insulation and safety devices this process could lbe fatal.

CONFINED SPACES SAFETY ENTRY PROCEDURE is safety procedure used when working in a confined space.
