Why do we have x-ray produce in wide range wavelength or energy?
X-rays are electromagnetic radiation which enters into the body and creates pictures of the structures. It is classified into two types-soft x-rays and hard x-rays. Soft x-rays are short wavelength of 0.1 to 10 nanometres. But hard x-rays have wavelength of 100 picometers and occupy in the same region. The main difference is soft x-rays are produced with the help of electrons whereas hard x-rays produced by atomic nuclei. The wavelength of x-rays are usually shorter than ultra violet rays. X-rays are produced by accelerating or decelerating of the electrons by colliding with the particles. It is produced in a tube. The kinetic energy which is produced will be converted as x-rays. The atoms can also emit x-rays using wavelength followed by its energy level spacings . X-rays will be more energetic when it interacts with the matter forms ionizing radiations.Through this process the energy will get deposited in the matter.
