Between the year 1929 and 1945, the Great Depression and America's entry in the World War Two, redefined the hegemonic status and extracted America from an isolated and peripheral state to the 'American dream' as we know of, today. By the end of October 29, 1929, America had entered into the age of economic collapse, also known as the 'Black Tuesday'. Due to the crash in the stock market, the dollar collapsed. The rise in unemployment, inequality and homelessness escalated. Although the President then (Herbert Hoover) attempted to stabilise the economic damage by reversifying it, but he failed to do so. It was only in the presence of Franklin Delano (1932), a 'New deal' was promised. The Work Progress Administration was created by the Congress, which offered jobs to those who suffered the effects of Great Depression. The government's role in the economy was activated and the power of the federal government was expanded and channelised to undo the damage by the economic collapse. It created jobs for men and women, focussed on bridging the gap of inequality between the white and the minority group and restructured the manufacturing industry in America. This phase of dark economic struggle ended in 1941,when America decided to enter the World War Two.America remained neutral untill the year 1941, untill the Japanese attacked Pearl harbour. Before this historical date, America's position had been of an observer, even though her allies and other axis power were actively involved in the war. America's nuclear attack on Hiroshima established its supremacy as a global power. Ethically, America made the biggest historical mistake by nuclear bombing Japan(6th August - 9th August 1945). After this event, America tasted the flavours of hegemony and utilised it to its full potential. America created jobs, flourished as a manufacturing ground of weaponary extraction, dissolved inequality faced by the minorities and reinforced women to join the work force next to men etc . Even though America displayed herself as the torch of democracy and a saviour against a totalitarian government and aggression, it refused to give civil rights to the American-Japanese living in the land, then. America changed as a nation with a promise of the famous 'American dream' , but it created enemies off shore.
