5) Imagine the following scene. You are the psychotherapist. A man begins to talk to you and says, "I am unable to attain an erection. Can you help me?" This is all the information you have at this point. What should you ask this man next?
Psychotherapy is a form of talk therapy. A variety of mental disturbances and emotional problems are dealt with, during the therapy to enhance one's well-being and healing. A psychotherapist is trained to help people with their emotional problems.
If a man has problem with erection, the person is in need of sex therapy, which is a short-term form of counseling. It usually consists of 5 to 20 sessions, with a sextherapist. If a person is unable to attain an erection, he or she has Erectile Dysfunction (ED). Therefore, the person can be questioned on sexual difficulties, faced by him. Symptoms of erectile dysfunction can be enquired, like reduced sexual desire or libido. The duration of the condition will be enquired, which usually continues for more than a few weeks or months. During the session, the person is given 'assignments' to-be-completed at home like reading books about sexuality, performing touching exercises, which take away the pressure to perform during sex and imbibing better sexual communication skills.
