Question Four: (Word count 300 words) *this is all information i have
The real life issue topic is with an hypothesis " is diet a big part of losing weight?" . Many people have a concept that if you go to the gym or for any workout programms, you can eat as much as you can and still you will end up loosing the weight. But frankly speaking working out is just 20% of the weightloss plan while the rest 80% is dieting and food control. If you dont control the food , the you wont see the changes one is expecting on their body. Here in this paper we can prove with facts and figues on why dieting is integral part of weightloss programs.
The best type of data to be collected for this research is primary data and we can use a little bit of secondary data as well. It will be best recommended to meet the people in a gym or contact gym trainers and get the possible primary data from them as it would be the right and authentic data that we can depend on this case. Primary data are found by a researcher for the specific purpose of addressing the problem at hand. Secondary data are data which have already been collected for reasons other than the problem which we have. These data can be located quickly and inexpensively
This data can be valid also with the real life examples. It will help us identify depedent and indepedent variables.
Independent variables are variables that are manipulated and whose effects are measured , e.g. diets and workout
Test units are individuals, organizations whose response to the independent variables or treatments is being tested or monitored, e.g : working out people
Dependent variables are the variables which measure the impact of the independent variables on the test units, e.g., weightloss
Extraneous variables are all entities other than the independent variables that impact the outcome of the test units, e.g: types of training
The best two method is questionnaire and focus group method can be used for this purpose.
A focus group is conducted by a trained moderator in a non-structured and natural manner with a small group of respondents in case either gym trainers or workout people. The main purpose of focus groups is to gain insights by creating a forumand to reflect and to portray their feelings and opinion on topic , at their pace and using their language and logic.
Advantage of focus group:
1. Synergy
A group of people together will produce a wider range of
information, insight and ideas than will individual responses
secured privately
2.Snowballing
One person’s comment triggers a chain reaction from the other
respondents.
3. Stimulation
As the general level of excitement over the topic increases in the
group, therespondents want to express their ideas and expose their
feelings
4. Security
Respondents feel comfortable and are therefore willing to ‘open up’
and reveal thoughts
5. Spontaneity
Because respondents are not
required to answer specific questions, their responses can be
spontaneous and unconventional
Disadvantages of Focus Groups
1. Misjudgement
group results can be more easily misjudged than the results of
other data techniques
2.Moderation
The quality of the results depends upon how well the discussion is
managed and ultimately on the skills of the moderator
3. Messiness
The unstructured nature of the responses makes coding, analysis and
interpretation difficult.
Questionnnaire method
Advnatage:
Accurate information can be collected with questions.
effects on people with diet can be seen
