Ans. Ethical accompany someone who is dying would mean the
following things ---
- Take the heart and be with them.
- Talk to them, listen to them, ask them if there is anything you
could help them with.
- Provide them physical comfort, emotional comfort, mental
comfort, sit by them.
- Provide a keen ear to the things which they want to say, or
want to finish some unfinished thing they wanted to do.
- Provide support to the family member of the patient, and asking
them if you could do anything to help them.
- Express the feeling you have to share with them, thanks them to
let you took care of them.
- Use comfortable words and tone to the patient and the family
members to let them know about the condition, and time left with
them.
- Be emphatic.
Following challenges, I think one would face accompanying the
dying patient ---
- Cope up with the overwhelming mixed feelings.
- Try and make yourself strong, sitting beside the patient and
seeing the tense environment around.
- To give the patient and their loved ones hope that, everything
will be fine.
- Lack of support, as it is difficult watching such conditions,
and not being able to help them.
