Also called: gallbladder inflammation
Inflammation of the gallbladder, a small digestive organ beneath
the liver.
Cholecystitis is often caused by stones that block the tube leading
from the gallbladder to the small intestine.
Signs and symptoms:
- Pain areas: in the abdomen, shoulder, or upper-right
abdomen
Gastrointestinal: bloating, nausea, or vomiting
Whole body: chills, fever, or sweating
Also common: abdominal cramping from gallstones or yellow skin and
eyes

Education- Patients with cholecystitis must be educated regarding
causes of their disease, complications if left untreated, and
medical and surgical options.
Activity- Ambulate and increase activity as tolerated.
Diet- Foods to Avoid
Fried foods, like french fries and potato chips.
High-fat meats, such as bacon, bologna, sausage, ground beef, and
ribs.
High-fat dairy products, such as butter, cheese, ice cream, cream,
whole milk, and sour cream.
Pizza.
Foods made with lard or butter.
Creamy soups or sauces.
Meat gravies.
Chocolate.
