An appraisal can be considered as the systematic evaluation of the performance aspects of individuals and employees, allowing them the understanding of performance and for them to make use of feedback as an indicator of the extent of their growth and learning potential. We can say that it is the process where both the employers and the employee are involved since the employee needs to participate in the process. The supervisors need to measure the work of the individuals, with a targeted approach, to then be able to measure the aspect of performance. The central element or goal of a performance appraisal is the understanding of guidance that the employers provide to the individual by creating a plan that best represents their potential strengths and weaknesses and to address the flaws or shortcomings they currently exhibit.

In all actuality, the appraisal is the process by which the understanding of training and the influencing of better work habits can be undertaken by the employers.

Having said that, there are several common evaluation errors in PA that may occur.
