Ethical standards of conduct differentiate between right and wrong, between acceptable and unacceptable behaviors on the part of the researcher. The reliability and validity of the research findings depends upon ethical standards adherence by the researcher. It must be ascertained that esearchers followed the appropriate guidelines for issues of human rights, animal welfare, legal compliance, safety and health etc.
First such standard was adopted by APA , in 2002.
These are related rights violation of privacy and confidentiality , misuse of psychological research, publication of research without the permission of experimental group , charging high fees , etc. Are certain aspects of ethical violation and hence are formulated in terms of ethical standards.
For making study more ethical , ethical codes and standards should be made available more easily to researcher and participant , and strict and prompt action must be taken against all those who violate such standards to set the correct precedent . Moreover , awareness regarding ethical code must be spread among general population so that they can provide feedback if any violation appears to them .
