Expert Solution

answer-

Why does a global sales forces cause special compensation problems? Suggest some alternative solutions.

When business is global then Company needs salespeople who are talented and skilled to close deals in home as well as foreign countries. For thier work, they need compensatin which is different from salesperson who is assigned to do sales in foreign country can be called expat sales person and sales person who is already in foreign country called foreign sales person. There is inequality in compensation between both type of salesperson because exapt salesperson earns more than foreign salesperson. This could be the fact that expat requires accommodation, family expense etc which is unlikely in case of foreign salesperson. This makes foreign sales person demotivated and lower thier performance. For management, this create compensation issues to create the right compensation.

I can suggest Management to motivate them by providing some monetary benefits like commission, incentives and let expat person to manage foreign salesperson.

Why do companies include an evaluation of an employee’s family among selection criteria for an expatriate assignment?

This criteria is important because an employee or manager assigned overseas assignment faces many issues if he has family like if manager has children then it would be difficult for expat to deal with education, health related issue, family accommodation etc if he leaves the family behind then expat may miss his family and does not concentrate on work in foreign country. This affect lenghth and stay of time of expat in foreign country. on the other hand if manager is single not married then situation is different. so family factor is very important to consider because it affect expat's emotions, ability to work in foreign country.
