Ans. Biochemistry has several applications in our day-to-day life such as in food, food science, nutrition, health, medicine, pharmacy, cosmetic industries, in petrol industries, in medical treatments, agriculture, and in many more other areas and industries.
I have learned that biochemistry is a guide to drug discovery and for its application, which is a boon for medical industries and to us humans. Also, biochemistry helps us understand the biochemical changes and related physiological alterations in the body, and the pathology of the disease is studied by looking at biochemical changes, which play basics in treating minor infections like cold to life-threatening diseases like cancer. Biochemistry deals with the basic knowledge, concepts, and methodology related to the chemical properties of nutrients as it deals with body substances like enzymes, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, DNA, RNA, hormones. Biochemistry plays a very important role in getting the results of different laboratory tests, through which problems can be detected and suitable treatment is given.
Application in nursing --
Knowing and using the biochemistry of drugs like chemical reaction and properties of drugs to the human body allows the nurses to determine which medicines, and in what doses to give to each patient they come across with and it helps to determine the nurses that how the medications will work for their patients.
Learning biochemistry helps nurses in knowing what nutrition is needed or is important for their patient's body and which foods and supplements will fulfill the need of the patient.
Because of biochemistry, numerous important laboratory test is being performed, like kidney function test, blood test, liver function test, urine test, serum cholesterol test, etc. This plays a very important role in finding out about the body's condition and on the basis of the results, a diagnosis of clinical conditions is made and it helps in monitoring the condition of the patient by understanding the underlined disease and illness.
