A. Water needs 1mL per calorie needed.
Total water needed 3434mL.(1mL per calorie).
Mr. F consumed 1367mL.
Water imbalance = 2067mL.
B. Potential Health Risks:
water imbalance or hypovolemia is the deficit in the body
fluids. Decreased intake of water, less that of the body needs will
lead to the potential health risks of
- Electrolyte Imbalance - Lack of water intake leads to
imbalances of sodium, potassium, chloride, magnesium, and calcium,
in addition to the sweating, vomiting, and diarrhea.

- Metabolic acidosis - The body produces too much acid as a
result of electrolyte imbalances and the kidneys are not removing
enough acid results in metabolic acidosis.

- Decreased cardiac output - Decreased fluid intake leads to
inadequate pumping of heart to meet the metabolic demands of the
body.

- Multisystem failure - It occurs as a result of severe lack of
body fluid, so the heart cannot the pump sufficient amount of
blood. this results in oxygen deprivation, inadequate perfusion,
and the inadequate circulating volume which leads to organ
failure.

- Hypovolemic shock - Inadequate perfusion leads to ischemia of
the endothelial cells and the multisystem failure results in
hypovolemic shock.

- Coma and death- Further the hypovolemic shock leads to coma and
death if untreated properly.
