In your responses to your peers’ posts you must provide constructive and insightful comments that go beyond that of agree or disagree. Nursing intervention:
Deficient knowledge r/t understanding of complex disease condition. ( Ackley, Ladwig & Mackic 2017p.493) Parent explains disease state, identify child needs and verbalize understanding of the disease within seven days of the pediatric appointment. Nursing interventions: 1.Educate parents Educate on different skills needed to manage the child’s care reinforce learning through frequent repetition and follow up sessions on how to care for a child with Cerebral palsy. Rationale: It is essential to educate the parent that every child born with Cerebral palsy has a different outcome of care because every child is affected differently. Each child needs individual assessment so the child's maximum potential is reached. Without understanding the child disease may place the child at risk for further complication. Follow up care is needed with Spactic Cerebral palsy to reduce chances of contractures from spasticity and further reduction of motor function ( Pillitteri 2014p.1444) 2.Encourage the parent to express the impact of their child’s condition on the family. Rationale: Helps the parents to vent their feelings and concerns regarding the newly diagnosed. If the parent cannot cope with their diagnosis, not only is the childcare at risk the parent may become overwhelmed, and self-care may also be at risk. One interprofessional healthcare member to include in the care plan would be the physical therapist. A physical therapist helps manage the child's condition and progress, helping them strengthen their gait and help them form some independence in life. According to Pilliteri (2014p.1443), physical therapy can help a child with cerebral palsy to lengthen their hell cords. In this scenario, the child is presented with Spastic type cerebral palsy, includes loss of upper motor neurons which results in hypertonic muscles.
Cerebral Palsy:
A congenital disorder of movement, muscle tone or posture.
Yes, I agree that it is necessary to assess the parents understanding level, knowledge level & imparting them about the child's disease condition so that they understand the management of the child's condition effectively with reinforcing them at all times of care as cerebral Palsy is deteriorating disease condition with time so early management prevents complications.
The 2nd Intervention says that the grief process of helping the parents & family members to cope with the child's condition giving way to get more information about the child's condition to cope effectively is what I agree.
Yes, I agree that physical therapy is essential here as it strengthen muscles to prevent weakness & deterioration, helping them to strengthen their gait, loosening of muscles to prevent joint contractures thus helping them to gain Independence in life.
