Part II Define the following:
a. Revision of genre
b. ironic pilgrimage
c. marginal figure
d. the regional trend in postmodern crime fiction
(a) Genres are made up codes and conventions and genre revision
generally involves tinkering and subverting those conventions in
ways that speak to later generations. Genre revision is an effort
to update the histories and to critique myths and ideologies that
were followed in previous times.
(b) A pilgrimage is basically a journey in search of moral or
spiritual significance. Typically, it is a journey to a shrine of
importance to a person's beliefs and faith, although sometimes it
can be a metaphorical journey into someone's own beliefs and
therefore is called as an ironic pilgrimage.
(c) A marginal figure is a figure that is small and not very
significant or important.
(d) The regional trend in postmodern crime fiction is the
development of the genre of detective in the contemporary
literature which were not earlier seen. The detective story has
become surprisingly young, and though many elements of the genre,
like deductive reasoning, are found in earlier works too, the first
story which is created to feature a fictional detective wasn't
created until the nineteenth century. This is how the religion
trend is changing.
