Provide examples of groups that you were a member of that clicked and groups that didn’t. What factors explain the differences?
The group that clicked was a recent group we had formed to implement the changes in business operations. The company had formed a team of six members from different departments to create awareness among other employees about the changes and how it will impact the normal work routine.
The group that didn't click was a group we had formed two years back in my previous workplace to understand the operational activities and how they could be improved to improve the dwindling sales.
The reason why one group clicked and others didn't is simple. In the first group, we had regular healthy discussions and often debated about various methods and steps which needed to be taken. This helped us in understanding each other point of view as well as made us choose the best method for the implementation. This led us to be successful in performing our team goal.
The second group had communication issues where team members didn't communicate with each other regularly. This created a lot of misunderstandings and affected the workings of the group. Also, since there was a lack of communication, our job tasks were not performed on time, and the goal to improve the sales numbers got delayed for almost 2 quarters. This resulted in a heavy loss of revenue for the company.
