Should employers attempt to prevent harassment by restricting romantic relationships between employees or do you believe this is too much of an overreach by employers? If you support this type of restriction, what should such a policy entail? If you oppose this type of restriction, how should companies ensure personal relationships do not affect employee performance? post must be 250 words or more
Romantic relationships between employees is entirely their private matter as long as it does not affect their conducts and performance at the workplace. In this way, there is no harm if such relationship fluorishes outside the workplace, as it is the personal matter of employees. However, if they start showing their affection at the workplace, affect the decorum and dignity of the workplace and also persuade others to do so, it is objectiionable and can't be allowed to continue. The policy of restricting such practices must deal with conduct at workplace, which should include a comprehensive do and don'ts, and conduct to be avoided. The conformance of employees to such policies can be monitored personally or through a CCTV recording by the respective departmental managers. Violations if any, should be dealt on one to one basis and such employees should be counselled by the experts as well as immediate seniors. If this does not work, it should be followed by adverse entry in the employee's workbook and should also become an input in the person's appraisal process. This will ensure that the private and personal lives of employees don't affect one another, and any undesirable situations are avoided as much as possible.
