How should the burden of health costs be shared by employers and employees? If employees have to bear more of the cost, will they skimp on medically necessary care, curtail the use of less valuable services or both? Is the cost-sharing program instituted at Harvard, in effect, “a pay cut” designed to “come at …the moment you are sick…” Or is it intended as a behavior “designed to reduce overall spending.” Thinking more broadly, should our healthcare insurance be delivered by our employers? Or is there a better way we could purchase healthcare insurance?
In many organisations, healthcare insurance is a part of the cost to company where an employee is insured for a significant sum to deal with unprecedented health issues. Beyond this, there is a provision of group insurance to meet the critical health emergencies like cancer. heart disease or an accident. Though,the employee himself /herself takes every measure to buy insurance, the employer can negotiate better deals with insurers who would be willing to sell in bulk. I will suggest buying insurance through employer who would not only share a part of it ( because well being of employees, which is directly related to their productivity,and is in employer's interests as well), but also help the employees to get the best bulk deals which they alone can not do. For someone who wants to make himself /herself more protected may do it on his /her own, but every employee must be insured with a reasonable sum through employer- employee joint contribution, which might be deducted monthly just like a provident fund contribution.
