Expert Solution

Social class means a class divided into social and economic status. Although, the Social class is based on three main factors occupation, education and income.

1. Occupation: If a person is doing a good job in a company or owns a humongous business than he is classified as upper class in society. But if a person is working as a sweeper or a cobbler than he is classified as lower class in the society.

Education: People who are highly qualified will get the job in a higher position, and his image in the society will be like upper class. But if you are not educated than people will think you are not worthy of this society and will be treated like a lower class person

Income: If you earn money through small job than you are a middle-class person in the society if you earn nothing than you will be counted as poor and if you earn in lakhs than you are counted as upper class of the society. Based on the income you will be given respect in the society.

  • As per my opinion, all three factors play an important role in social status, but income seems to be having more weight. The reason is simple if you have money, and you are not educated and don’t have good job then also people will respect you In society because your money will gain you a respect.
  • To support my argument I have given a reason, but to make it more concrete, I will further explain it in more detail. A is educated, has a decent job and earns good money. But B has a humongous amount of money than A, but he is not educated nor he has a job, than also B is more respectful than A in society. Because of B lives in a lavish house, own luxury cars and he is super rich. That is why his social status in society is very good and he counted in the upper class. Income can surpass education and occupation any time.
