List of 3 variables and how they are measured, for which we would use the mode as the most appropriate measure of Central Tendency:
(1)
(i) Variable: the number of shoe sizes the shop keeper would like to keep:
(ii) It is measured by counting the number of shoes of each size and selecting the size which has maximum frequency
(iii) The shop keeper is interested not the expected number of sames, but he is interested in the size which is sold the maximum. So, mode is most appropriate in this case.
(2)
(i) Variable: Among all the movies running in the theaters, select the movie liked by maximum number of people.
(ii) It is measured by counting the number of viewers of the various movies in the theaters and selecting the one which has maximum number of viewers.
(iii) The person is not interested in the average number of viewers but he is interested in the movie liked by maximum number of people. So, mode is most appropriate in this case.
(3)
(i) Variable:Among all available colors of a car, select the color most liked by maximum number of people.
(ii) It is measured by counting the number of people liking the various colors and selecting the one which has maximum number of liking people.
(iii) The person is not interested in the average number of liking the color but he is interested in the color liked by maximum number of people. So, mode is most appropriate in this case.
