According to Iris Marion, the American political theorist, oppression have five forms, they are, violence exploitation, marginalization, powerlessness and cultural imperealiim. Violence is using destructive forces intended to damage, hurt or kill. Exploitation is unfair treatment to get benefited by others works. Marginalization is treating someone or some group as lesser important in the society. Powerlessness is understood my it's meaning that is lack of power. Cultural imperialism is defined as promoting of one culture over another culture. The statement given that "no single form of oppression can be fully understood or successfully resisted in isolation from other forms" can be justified by taking the example of opression of African people, racism against them, violence against them, marginalizinger beings, their exploitation as slaves in history, and their powerlessness all are interrelated to each other and one form of opression is result of it's another forms, for example cultural imperialism creates racism against them which in term results in their marginalization and which results in their exploitation and powerlessness and violence against them, hence the Statement is justified. Another example to refute the statement would be the case of opression of women, regardless of cultural and cultural imperialism women are universally opressed in most of the cultures therefore can understand other forms of opression of women like their exploitation or violence against them without paying much attention to cultural imperialism as being the other form.
