Following are the major limitations that the elderly person is facing in daily life:

1) Absence of companionship or loneliness

2) Getting injured at unsafe environment (tripping or falling)

3) lack of abilities for compulsory errands completion

4) Tendency to forget their medication

5) Inability to prepare nutritious meals

There are those factors that contribute to the elderly facing the above-mentioned limitations like:-

a) usual moving out of their children for the bright career

b) the other partner or significant family member passed away

c) Unpredictable or unwanted dangers at home (upturned rug or wet floor)

d) Inability to alarm someone after any mishappening

e) Inability to drive or to visit grocery shops, shopping mall or Doctor for regular appointments.

f) Mental illness or its fatigue - inability to remeber medication and other daily needy work

g) Inability to work in kitchen or selection of easier way of cooking- irrelevant of health needs.

Following are the suggestions or recommendations to overcome the above mentioned major limitations

With above factors in mind, One should opt to design a new home or customize living arrangement for the elderly to improve safety and accessibility including measures to protect against floods and fires and introduction of stair lifts, handrails etc. Home security should also be kept in mind.

There are many the factors that affect an elderly's ability to remain in an ideal living arrangement, that should always be kept in mind. Offering a companionship in easy and approachable way, helping them to deal with the life changes alongwith the learning to embrace these changes, minimization of unwanted or unpredictable risks, feasibility of calling or being attended to medical attention, having assisstance in completing all necessary activities of daily living, noticeable reminders for medication and other required daily needs, motivation of healthy and proper lifestyle and availability of entertainment and religiuos resources.
