For these 4 methods of sampling -
1. Simple Random Sampling Method
2. Judgement Sampling Method
3. Systematic Sampling Method
4. Stratified Sampling Method
Please provide the following for each method:
a. Provide 1-3 sentences to describe using your own words
b. Identify whether it is a random or non-random sample
c. Identify a merit of the sampling approach
d. Identify a limitation of the sampling approach
a)
1. Simple Random Sampling Method : It is the technique of drawing a sample in such a way that each unit of the population has an equal and independent chance of being included in the sample.
2. Judgement Sampling Method : In this sampling, the sample is selected with definite purpose and the choice of the sampling units depends on the judgement of the investigator.
b)
1. Simple Random Sampling Method : It is a random sampling
2. Judgement Sampling Method : It is a non random sampling
c)
1. Simple Random Sampling Method :1) In this sampling each unit has an equal chance of being selected. 2) subjectivity or personal bias is completely eliminated
2. Judgement Sampling Method : If the investigator is experienced and skilled and this sampling is carefully applied, then it may yield valuable results.
d)
1. Simple Random Sampling Method : The selection of a simple random sample requires an up-to-date frame. 2) Some times simple random sample give most non-random looking results.
2. Judgement Sampling Method: this sampling method is seldom used and cannot be recommended for general use since it is often biased due to element of subjectivenedd or the part of the investigator.
