The Florida Tech Online Management System is much like other institutions that implement an online learning environment. The important thing to remember here is that with the addition of an online learning platform you have not only added options for current students but you have also opened the door for many more students that previously did not have the opportunity to attend a traditional class room setting. With the implementation of a database you would be able to have some easily accessible historical data that will show you what the typical number of students are for an individual course and how many sections you might need.

Initial design would be to establish relationships between different entities. We need to determine whether the relationship is one to one or one to many. There is a need of integrated discussion forum type tool that integrates students, staff and faculty members in order to achieve seamless operations. For Staff people, faculties and students there is a need for comprehensive online platform or an in house intranet that would maintain student records. At the same time this in house intranet can be accessed by the students to see which courses they are aligned. They can see and track their performance with regard to specific course they have undertaken. The faculties also upload courses assignments, follow up discussions and upload the performance scores of all the students.
