The Five-Factor model of personality was advanced by J. M. Digman in 1990. Lewis Goldberg further developed it to the highest level of organization. This model provides a basic blue print describing the basic structure behind all personality traits. It helps people in understanding each other and build their relations accordingly. These traits are:
- Openness: It is contrast to closedness
- Conscientiousness: It is in contrast to Lack of Direction
- Extraversion: It is in contrast to Introversion Introversion
- Agreeableness: It is in contrast to Antagonism
- Neuroticism: It is in contrast to Emotional stability
Out of these five traits, Conscientiousness, Extraversion. Agreeableness and Neuroticism describe the differences in personality during childhood, adolescence and adulthood.
These traits are important to understand a person in a better way and to understand that how can one go ahead with them.
