what is the priority teaching of the use of Metamucil
METAMUCIL
Metamucil is fiber laxative that is used for constipation or bowel irregularity.
TEACHING OF THE USE OF METAMUCIL
1.Should not use medicine if ever had an allergic reaction to it.
2.It can contains sugar, sodium or phenylalanine. Precautions and doctors advise should take if patient is diabetic, hypertensive or on a low _salt diet.
3.Seek advise if patient is pregnant or breastfeeding before using. Dosage can change.
4.Should not give to younger children less than 6 yrs without doctors prescription.
5.Follow the medicine dose as prescribed by doctor.
6.Take enough liquid while taking medicine since it can swell throat, thus can cause choking.
7.If it is capsule, swallow one at time. If it Metamucil powder, mix with enough liquid before using.
8.Donot take for longer than 7 days unless doctor prescribed.
9.Inform or make follow up if your symptoms worsening or not having improvement.
10.Store in room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep in a tight container.
