What principles guided President Hoover’s response to the Great Depression, and how did this restrict his ability to help the American people? Do you see any similarities between Hoover’s response to the Depression and Trump’s response to our current economic crisis? Explain your answer. own words pls
In 1929, the Great Depression created economic downfall for all
over the world.Though Hoover has gained a reputation for
uncertainty in the face of economic crisis, his administration
actually traced measures that helped lay the basis for Roosevelt’s
New Deal. Hoover launched a big public works program, part of which
covered funding for construction of the Hoover Damon the Colorado
River. His administration executed stronger protections for labor
and substantially reinforced federal subsidies for agriculture.
Hoover also played a main role in passing the Glass-Steagall Act of
1932, which limited the activities of commercial banks in an pursue
to stabilize the banking sector.
However, many of these policies were not immediately efficient, and
some of the administration’s actions actually aggregated the
effects of the depression. The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act, which
Hoover signed reluctantly, r
increased tariffs on thousands of imported goods and proposed a
trade war between the United States and Europe, thereby
exacerbating the global economic downturn.
