Answer) Gig economy refers to the situation where free lancer workers and contractual employment is provided, rather than full time employment. Gig economy provides for the flexibility in the work hours and lucrative wages such as uber drivers. This has helped to overcome issues faced by women. Such as :

1. Security at work space.
2. Loss of job due to maternity leave.
3. Option to work from home and take care of children.
4. Learn while earning, thereby enhancing future incomes.

However gig economy is not able to resolve the gender wage gap prevailing in the market. Women still face a glass ceiling to reach the upper threshold of management in their work space.

Gig economy has not enhanced the level of inequality faced by women in the work force. But it still hasn't reduced the inequality also. Moreover, gig economy came as a boon that can be used to reduce inequality by making it more formalised in nature.
