According to Carmichael and Hamilton, what are the three tenets of Black Power. Please explain the importance of each.

Black power is one of the political slogans, and an idea for many ideologies that would be aimed in achieving self determination for the people coming from African descents. This is used majorly by the African Americans. Black power would be expressing political goals, economy that is self sufficient or even the media. Black power had been defined by Carmichael as something where the blacks would be able to organise the,selves so as to speak for a position of strength as well as power.

According to Carmichael and Hamilton, maintain that black power implies that the black people should be seen in the form of a third force, an that appealing to the values of middle class and conduct values would not only give rise to a victimisation situation but also of sustainence of hegemonic values.

The three tenets are:

• Defence from racial oppression
• Establishing social institutions along with an economy that is self sufficient
• Support for racial segregation
