Newspapers are struggling to survive as readers increasingly go online to get news and information. Nevertheless, newspapers continue to offer unique benefits to advertisers. Write a report about the state of newspapers and make an argument for what may happen to newspaper advertising during the next decade. Decline in newspapers, their relevancy and competition due to new technologies:

Newspapers have been a hit, not only in any particular country like USA, UK and India etc. but in the entire world. As most of the people have started consuming news digitally. Since the mid-2000s, the newspapers have seen decline in their subscribers.

The reason behind this decline is internet access, social media etc. have contributed to the decline of newspapers. Therefore, the invention of the internet and online news & information have brought losses in the print newspapers all over the globe. It is estimated that within a span of maximum 10 years newspaper will be no more in the market.

However, newspapers are relevant even now because of the detailed information about the happenings around the world. Also, it has become a habit for several people which is hard to die. It is easier to carry and keep than keeping an internet connection in an electronic device.

Therefore, the competition between the digital mode of circulation and the traditional mode of newspaper will continue.

What may happen to newspaper advertising during the next decade?

During the next decade newspapers advertising will decline as most of the advertisers are participating more in online advertising over websites or social media. Knowingly, that the customers are shifting more towards digital world.

However, many advertisers will still consider advertising into print newspapers due to the reasons like low cost, last minute news printing and the old trust of people over newspapers information.

Technology is the major reason behind the newspaper extinct.

New generations are accustomed to digital media and keeps everything online. They find it easier to read and get knowledge of every topic online. Digital News sources provide faster information to the public.

Therefore, traditional hardcopy newspapers are declining and will lead to digital news.

II. Do advertisers still need this medium?

Advertisers still need the medium of newspapers due to many reasons:

a. Trust Factor: The readers trust the information and advertisements printed in newspapers. Newspapers are still very relevant when it comes to marketing to certain sectors of consumers. As the consumers pay attention towards the newspapers.

b. Low Prices: The advertisements are less expensive in printed newspapers than posting online. And, they are able to communicate to specific audience at a very lower cost of advertisements.

c. Rushed marketing: Whenever the advertiser has a last minute advertising, he opts for printed newspapers. As, they are printed daily almost a night before and are time sensitive.

III. Can news organizations find a way to make newspapers a viable business again?

Yes, news organizations can make newspapers a viable business again by considering the following suggestions:

a. Again considering classifieds as an important approach.

b. Hiring the best and innovative employees.

c. Targeting the elderly people in the market.

d. Building commercial models of interacting with the customers in a better way.
