AIDS is a sexually transmitted disease. AIDS is spread when an infected person's body fluids( blood, semen, vaginal fluids ,etc) contact with a non infected person throgh cut or open wound. So, hand -shake can be a mode of transmition if the hand is contaminated with any of the body fluids and the non infected person any cut wound in the hand. But I think its not wise to much anxious about it when it is easily prevented through right awareness/ education. The transmiting possibilities can be minimised effectively through safe sex and educating the AIDS patients that their responsibilty to have safe contact with others.
Measles is a highly contagious communicable disease which affect both children and adult. Mesales is a airbborne virus and can be life threatening. The incubation period for measles is 7-18 days. The first symptoms includes fever, cough, runny nose, sore and watery pink eyes. Later, from 3 to 7 days of illness, a blotchy rash on the face, ears, head and other parts of the body. Iam aware of this disease during my community nursing sessions in which i had a chapter for communicable disease.Measles is one of the most infectious disease in many countries. The best proven prevention for Measles is MMR vaccine( Measles, mumps and rubella). Young children are vaccinated at 15 months and 4 years of age.One dose of MMR vaccine protects about 95% of people and two doses protect about 99%.The vaccine is free for everyone from 1 january 1969. Adults also can have this vaccine.
Another prevention method is self isolation. Those who affcted with measles should be isolated to prevent spraed to others. Then inform the health care system about your situation.
