As per a published report…” In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Nokia was the global leader in mobile phones.

With the arrival of the Internet, other mobile companies started
understanding how data, not voice, was the future of communication. Nokia
didn’t grasp the concept of software and kept focusing on hardware because the
management feared to alienate current users if they changed too much.”

List and briefly explain 2 factors that might have been overlooked by the business(es), referred to in the case.

Two factors which has been overlooked in this case are (A) Focus on prospective customers need and (B) Scanning of competitors technological advancements.

(A) Focus on prospective customers need : Business only survived and grown up , if they can convert their prospective customers to their regular customers . Prospective customers are the future customers of the business . Nokia company didn't responded to the needs of their prospective customers , they use the same tag line " Connecting people ". But in modern world mobile phone is not only a device to make calls while moving . Rather it is the device which can be used for data transfer , using different softwares , application and amusement facilities . That is why day by day they loose their customers in the cell phone market .

B) Scanning of competitors technological advancements : Different cell phone manufacturing companies joined the industry and manufacturing smart phones with different price range. They all are providing different software specifications , amusement utilities, android support for rapid data transfer etc. Which are been figure out as per the need of the customers. But Nokia company didn't even follow them and reluctant to scan their competitors technological advancements in the initial phase. Because of that,  now they are no where in the market .

Still Nokia has the tag line -- " Connecting people " for their cell phones, where as VIVO has the tag line for the similar  product "Camera and Music". Which may tell you the reason of the fallen kingdom.
