Five organizational approaches to the management of diversity:
1. Performance oriented policy: In the diverse workforce it is very important to base the major decisions on performance only. There should be no other criteria for promotion and pay but merit. All the members of the organization irrespective of their race, religion, gender must get the performance oriented pay and promotion.
2. Environment of team spirit: The managers must ensure that team building is taken up in letter and spirit. There must be an environment of mutual trust and co=operation.
3. Training: Organizations must conduct behavioral training for managing diverse workforce. Employees must be acquainted with the importance of diverse workforce and conflict resolution among the diverse workforce.
4. Communication: The communication must be diagonal and open and not horizontal. All the members must have access to communication channels so that reach out to relevant authorities to air grievance.
5. Diversity forums: Forums or groups which may be formal and informal must be created to promote the essence of diversity and increase awareness of team spirit in diverse workforce.
