Expert Solution

Hey there!

Let me give you the chart of the standard model with detail in it.

Well, all that you see and the study which involves it's properties and characteristics comes mostly from particle physics. And so the study in astronomy has a great deal in particle physics as well. The branch of physics that greatly deals with the study of elementary particles and of space origin and study about them is called as Astroparticle physics. It is an emerging field which is undergoing rapid development from it's side as well.

The areas which are under research in Astroparticle physics are particle cosmology, High and low energy neutrino astronomy, High energy gamma ray astronomy and developments in instrument sto research on these fields are also in the creation.

When it comes to particle physics in astronomy it would deal with the high energy particles and their study which would open up the knowledge of the fundamental particles and the origin of Universe. So this may take to the study of Dark matter and Dark energy, which are the areas that are still under research which we don't have enough knowledge about.

I hope the detailing will do... Cheers :)

Problem 1:Let’s discuss some particle physics. In 1897, physicist J.J. Thomson conducted a seminalexperiment with a cathode ray tube. In the experiment, a beam of an unknown particle of chargeqandmassmis shot through the tube onto a fluorescent screen, at some speedvand in thex-direction. Uponimpact the beam leaves a bright spot on the screen. Sincevis very fast, effects of gravity are negligible andthe beam forms essentially a straight line normal to the screen. (a) A uniform nonzero electric field−→E=Eˆzis then turned...

Explain, in detail, the physics behind why the magnet slows its descent through the tube (it does not touch the sides). In your discussion be sure to explain why the magnet doesn't come to a stop in the tube and why it does not speed up.
