1. Describe directive leadership and supportive leadership, Explain their importance.
2. How organizations are benefitted from supportive leadership ? Give an example of such organization which you might have come across.
1. Directive leadership could be defined as Being task-oriented and provides an appropriate direction for the working of the employees. It ensures control over subordinates with dominating interactions. It would personally manage the completion of the tasks. Supervision is done very closely. Pressuring the emplpyees for the completion of the targets is effectively done and with efficient time management for the project. The importance is to make people direct and act according to the standards and the objectives.
Supportive leadership is the kind leadership in which the employee needs are met. The concerns are shown for the individual and group needs and conflicts are done minimal. A supportive work culture is inhabited, providing a positive feedback with increase the team cohesion. Inclusion is exclusively practiced here. The importance is to make people feel included and provide support for the organisation's productivity.
2. To understand the concept of supportive leadership in a better manner, we'll take the example of Google. Google is very well known to be an inclusive and diverse organisation. In that oranisation, every employee's skill and abilities are increased anyhow by providing intrinsic and extrinsic training and leadership. People are included and their ideas are appreciated. Innovation and creativity is very essential for Google and for that an organisational culture is created where people have free communication practices to make the processes understand very well and make sustainability achieved.
