Answer 1).
I agree with the American Air Force Association in my belief that
the exhibit plan was “politically biased”. I think that the
gruesome images and portrayals of the historical event in Hiroshima
maybe a bit too graphic for many viewers and brought up a lot of
bad emotions for those veterans who fought in the war. I think that
if the Smithsonian was allowed to display the exhibit the way they
had first intended that it could have caused many Veterans to
suffer more postwar depression and guilt because it would have
served as a reminder of all the innocent lives that were taken. I
also feel that the same reminder may have helped prevent future
attacks of the same nature.
Answer 2).
I believe that there will always be cultural and political bias in
any historical remembrance. In all the historical war documentaries
that I have watched, there is always something that could affect
the public in a culturally or politically biased way. You just
can’t prevent that when replicating an event that already played on
so many emotions.
