  • One of the greatest economic and social challenges is funding long-term care-the provision of daily medical and personal assistance to individuals incapable of looking after themselves, ranging from in-home nurses to adult day-care services to full-time nursing homes. These services need to grow more in the years ahead but they are costly as well.
  • For a middle class family taking caring of the elderly is difficult and better pension and medical insurance policies are needed to cover the costs in order to provide better care facilities ranging from hospitals to personal nurses.
  • The effects of America's changing age structure are not limited to the pension or health care systems only. It is affecting every aspect of our lives including workplace, home, our lifestyle, our thinking styles etc.
  • Politics is changing as well, especially with the rise in older people, they are increasingly getting involved in voting their class interests as elderly.
  • To overcome these rising problems in social, political and fiscal domains the government needs to take up prompt policy decisions.
  • Work is important in everyone's life as it helps you to lead a good life and fulfill your basic necessities. Money is important in every sphere of life, right from buying a house to taking care of yourself and elderly medically as well as financially.
  • When elderly retire, they do need a source of income to take care of themselves. So the government needs to come up with better retirement pension schemes. Older workers can be encouraged to work by giving them the opportunity to work flexibly.Older workers could choose to work fewer hours yet remain longer in the labor force, including after they retire.
  • The government can provide opportunities to the elderly to remain in the workforce longer by encouraging them to engage in volunteering, care, and artistic activities that can provide both social and economic benefits and relieve some of the fiscal pressures related to aging societies.
