Health inequity in the community occurs based on socioeconomic
status, geographical factors, environmental condition, and living
conditions. The community faces a lot of challenges in the
employment, public safety, housing, education etc. The main causes
of inequities are
- Intrapersonal, interpersonal, institutional organize and
distribution of resources based on race, gender, age, sex.
- Unequal allocation of resources. Ex: goods and services.
- Social, political, and economic influence.
Examples of inequities in healthcare in the community
- structural Disparities in the community leads to inequities in
the health outcomes within the society and between the society. For
Ex: African American women give low-birth-weight babies more
likely.
- Some systemic policies and practices sort of resources based on
racism and socio-economic status. For Ex: access to good water,
housing, in high-income group.
- Black women associated with poverty that affect their
health.
- Social determinants of health lead to health inequities between
rich and poor.
- Racial Inequities i.e whites are more prone to health
conditions such as diabetes, chronic diseases, stroke, cancer, and
AIDS.
- Children in the slum die before the age of 5 compared to
children with sophisticated life.
- Colourblindness is more prevalent in the male than female.
- Health outcomes are poor in the low economic group due to
unsanitary water, low-quality living conditions.
- Children are less immunized in the slum than the high-income
class.
- Low economic and uneducated people are lack of awareness of
preventive measures in the community.
