The greatest hardship I have ever faced in my life was my problem with stammering. I used to stammer a lot when I was a kid. I was always mocked in school because of my stammering. Because of the stammering issue, I was unable to speak even one sentence properly. I had to face a lot of humiliation in classrooms, with relatives, at social gatherings and so on. I visited doctors for getting the stammering cured, but doctors said that there no was medicine to cure the stammering problem.

I started to feel very low and had almost lost all self-confidence. I avoided going to public places and started to remain isolated. Whenever I was back from school, I just entered my room and stayed there for the whole day. My parents were very supportive, however, they also were not able to help me to solve the stammering issue.

One day, one of my relatives, named Sunny, came to my home. I was meeting him for the first time. Sunny was over 5 years elder than me and looked like a very sensible person. When he came to know of my stammering problem, he told me that he also had a stammering problem when he was a kid. He also faced similar situations in his school, like I was facing. He told that to get rid of the stammering problem, one needs to stay positive and be confident. He told me to start speaking slowly, practicing a lot alone in front of a mirror. However, Sunny also told me that it is not going to be easy. It will a lot of time, effort and focus and will also require me to continuously keep pushing myself.

Talking with Sunny gave me some confidence. I felt I could also get rid of the stammering problem. I began developing confidence in myself. I started to ignore the moments when people laughed at me. I started speaking slowly and pushed myself to speak whenever there was an opportunity. I also started talking loudly when alone. Slowly, I noticed that I was not mocked as much as I was before. The reason was that I started not to give importance to such things. I also made it a habit to remain stress-free under all situations.

This whole process was very long. Sometimes, I felt that I would never achieve what I wanted, and thought of quitting. However, I kept reminding myself that others like Sunny have done it before and I would also be able to do it. I just kept on trying and trying with the same passion each and every day.

It took me around 3 years to finally get rid of my stammering problem. Some years later, when I started my graduation course, no one even realized that I used to have stammering issues. I had finally managed to overcome the biggest hardship of my life and felt like a true winner.
