Production planning is the systematic and strategic design of production processes that can produce products and deliver services quickly, precisely, and efficiency that achieve a set of common objectives. The principle objective of this process is to stay competitive.
A successful process design has to take into account the appropriateness of the process to overall organization objective. Process design requires a broad view of the whole organization and should not have a myopic outlook. And the process should deliver customer value with constant involvement of the management at various stages.
In order to achieve a good process design, effective process strategy is required, which deals with a singular line items required to manufacture the end product. Effective process strategy deals with raw material procurement, customer participation, technology investment, etc.
What product or service offerings does the industry you desire to work in provide the marketplace?
What type of processes are most frequently utilized?
How would you control the production process to assure a positive response from customers?
What degree of flexibility is demanded of these process by their marketplace?
**Be as detail as possible**
Production Planning:
Production Planning: The Process of entire production is done through various process. The stages from raw material procurement to processing the final product involves various processes which are complex and for any industry it is very much required to have the right production function and control.
The function involves various stages like material function, equipment, methods, routing, estimating, dispatching and evaluation.
The Product industry I like to work in?
I would like to work with the product planning and control function in automobile industry. The process details are as follows:\
The automobile industry or unit is very big setup where there are various products lines are involved and the production is done in various stages. In most of the automobile factories the production function involves automation as well as manual process. This industry works on the production line and a complete finished products is made at assembly line.
The automobile industry has a very dynamic and effective product planning and control function. The details are as follows:
PRODUCTION PLANNING

The above chart shows the various steps for production control for an automobile production unit.
Again the company has to control the following things at every stage i.e.. Inventory,Cost and Resources.
How would you control the production process to assure a positive response from customers?
The above mentioned production process needs to be controlled by making the assembly line perfect with no issues with the following:
1. Quality of Product: The Quality check (QC) of raw material which is procured from ancillary units or Vendors needs to be checked before production function.
2. Final Passing and Testing: For the good customer response the product function should be completed only after through checking and testing of each vehicle product.
3. Regular Feedbacks and Innovation: The regular feedback from end users and accordingly update in product is very much essential from positive customer response.
4. Zero error Production: The good and effective production planning involves negligible errors or zero errors.
What degree of flexibility is demanded of these process by their marketplace?
The automobile Industry is very dynamic and due to continuously changing technology and more efforts to control the environment the market place requires more green products with very low emissions and environment friendly products. Also the consumer in this industry demands good quality, less troubles or services or breakdowns and more efficiency of vehicles.
This market is very much demanding and we need to continuously work on Research and development to make the product planning and function flexible enough to meet the present demand and to provide best out of our production line.
